Blood and Tea on the Union Pacific
Donna Wallace Cohen made this piece to honor the Chinese workers who died in droves at the hands of the railroad bosses as they blasted tunnels through mountains in the western part of the Union Pacific Railway. The railroad company kept no records of their deaths and taxed them out of all their wages. Wang Fook drove the final spike at Council Bluffs Iowa on the Missouri River in 1869.This piece is dedicated to him.
